Stuck in Repeat? It Might Be Your Past.

Updated: Sep 19

Do you ever feel like you're going through the motions, but not truly living? You might be struggling with unresolved trauma from your past.

Trauma can come in many forms, from major life events like accidents or abuse to more subtle experiences like neglect or bullying. Even if you don't consciously remember the event, the impact can linger, affecting your present in surprising ways.

Here are some signs that you might be carrying unhealed emotional wounds:

  • Emotional Triggers:  Do certain songs, movies, or situations cause you to cry, withdraw, or lash out in anger? These could be signs of unresolved trauma bubbling to the surface.

  • Overreactions:  Do you sometimes feel like your reactions are way out of proportion to the situation? This could be a sign that you're projecting deeper emotional issues onto the present moment.

  • Holding Grudges:   If you find it difficult to forgive someone or can't let go of past hurts, it might be a sign that you need emotional healing. Consider practicing forgiveness to confront those painful feelings.

  • Stuck in Replay Mode:   Do you find yourself constantly replaying negative memories in your head? These painful experiences can't heal on their own. Consider seeking professional help to address them.

  • Low Self-Esteem:   Inner wounds can chip away at your confidence, leaving you feeling unworthy. Breaking the silence and confronting the root cause can help you rebuild your self-esteem.

  • Relationship Struggles:   Do you have difficulty connecting with others and maintaining healthy relationships? A fear of vulnerability stemming from past experiences could be the culprit.

  • Unhealthy Habits:  Self-destructive behaviors like substance abuse or chronic overeating can often be rooted in deeper emotional issues.

  • Mood Swings:  Unexplained emotional ups and downs can be a sign of underlying trauma. Healing requires acknowledging the pain and seeking ways to manage it.

  • Unhealthy Relationship with Food:   Food should nourish your body, but a negative cycle of guilt, restriction, or overindulgence could be a sign of something deeper going on.

If you recognize some of these signs in yourself, know this: You're not alone. Millions of people struggle with unresolved trauma. The good news is, there is hope! Healing is possible. Visit my website for more services.
