The Induction Process
To be eligible for nomination, an artist’s first commercial recording must have been released at least 25 years prior to the nomination year. This means that for 2025, artists who debuted in 2000 or earlier were considered. Eight of this year’s nominees—such as Bad Company, Chubby Checker, and Phish—are receiving their first-ever nominations.
The final inductees are chosen by a voting body consisting of over 1,200 artists, music industry professionals, and historians. Voters assess the artists based on their musical influence, innovation, career longevity, and overall contributions to the industry.
A Diverse Class of Artists
This year's nominations showcase a wide spectrum of musical genres, from classic rock bands like Bad Company and The Black Crowes to hip-hop pioneers OutKast and pop powerhouse Mariah Carey. Latin rock band Maná and British alternative icons Oasis further highlight the global reach of the Hall of Fame’s influence.
The inclusion of Chubby Checker, a major force in early rock and roll with his signature "Twist" dance craze, signals the Hall’s ongoing effort to honor foundational figures. Meanwhile, acts like The White Stripes and Phish represent more contemporary rock movements.
When and Where Will the Ceremony Take Place?
The final list of inductees will be announced in late April 2025, followed by the induction ceremony in the fall. This year's event will be held in Los Angeles, bringing together legendary performers, tributes, and special collaborations to honor the new class.
What’s Next?
Fans can participate in the process by voting in the official Fan Vote, available on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame website. The top fan selections are considered alongside industry votes to determine the final inductees.
