(2022) investigated its effects on intestine-specific immunity, finding that L-Theanine significantly improved the structure of the jejunum and reduced the symptoms of food allergies in mice (Qu et al., 2022). By regulating the differentiation of CD4+ T cells in the intestine, L-Theanine can potentially serve as a therapeutic agent for various gastrointestinal disorders.
