In Washington state, two 17-year-olds, Milo Canales and Hayden Lusebrink, have been charged as adults following a heinous attack on a 14-year-old boy in Lions Park, Everett. The attack occurred on December 16, when the victim was lured to the park under the pretense of meeting a girl. Instead, he was ambushed by Canales and Lusebrink, who allegedly grabbed him as he attempted to be chivalrous by opening a car door for the girl, who subsequently drove off, leaving the boy to believe he had been set up.
According to court documents, the victim was stripped of his clothes, tied to a tree, and subjected to a brutal assault. He was stabbed in the stomach multiple times, disemboweled, and had the letter "N" carved into his chest, a symbol believed to be associated with the Norteno gang. Despite the severity of his injuries, the young victim managed to free himself and seek help from nearby residents, eventually making his way to a hospital where he is expected to recover.
Both teenagers now face serious charges, including first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, and first-degree kidnapping. Canales was found with the victim's bloody clothing at the time of his arrest and has a prior felony charge for a robbery in Seattle, from which he was released on bail just weeks before this incident. His bail for this new crime was set at $1 million, while Lusebrink's was set at $300,000, with the latter being released on bond.
